Estate Agency Ombudsmen
Imagine proudly declare their membership of the Ombudsmen for Estate Agents Scheme. The full breakdown of the history, remit and contact details for this body are available on their own website that you can reach by clicking on their logo.
In summary, they act as an arbiter in disputes between estate agents and clients. If the agent is found not to have adhered to a strict code of conduct then they can fine that agent to the benefit of the client. The scale of the fine is dependent on the severity of the wrong doing.
The body remains optional to join. Unfortunately many agents have still failed to affiliate themselves, either because of fees attached in joining or for fear of falling foul of the rules. In either scenario, the excuse doesn't stand up. If you wish your business to be considered professional and you carry out your business in an ethical and fair manner then you have nothing to fear and everything to gain.
More and more the public are becoming aware that not using a member agent is taking an unnecessary risk with their most valuable asset.
Imagine have taken the principal a step further. We invite every single buyer and seller to comment and feedback on our service, in confidence, on an OEA designed questionnaire. The results of this are then recorded independently and made available for public scrutiny on the attached link below.
No longer do you have to take an agents word for it - you can actually see what the clients think themselves. We have no way of influencing or manipulating the results, they are as fair an assessment of our standards as you could witness.
You are likely to find that very few of our competitors leave themselves open to this level of scrutiny - read in to that what you will...
From the time of writing this I will have no idea of what score we will be achieving - I hope my confidence in our product isn't misplaced - I'll let you the clients be the judge of that.
